Thomas Brown

Piano, Voice, Guitar, Drums

I have my B.A. in Music Performance from the Baptist University of Florida, with my primary in voice and my secondary in piano. My musical journey started at the age of six when I started learning Suzuki Method piano from my first piano teacher. Since then, I have devoted my life to honing my craft and teaching others to do the same.  I have been playing music and leading in a church setting since I was 13 and have been a worship pastor for over a decade.

I have helped former students start their journey in leading worship in churches and pursuing a career in music and I started Nova Clave Music with the intention of helping many more fall in love with music.

At Nova Clave Music, I believe that music education extends far beyond learning notes and rhythms. Your Queries
Answered

  • What instruments do you teach?
At Nova Clave we teach piano, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, voice, and drums.
  • Can I learn music as an adult?
Of course! Learning to play an instrument at any age is always a great idea! There is no limit to the benefits of learning to play music as an adult.
  • Do I need to own the instrument I want music lessons for?
Yes, you must own or have access to the instrument that you are wanting to learn to play. The main reason for this is that you must practice in between lessons; therefore, you have to have an instrument to practice on away from the studio.
  • How much do music lessons cost?
All of our private music lessons are paid automatically via subscription at the beginning of the month at $120/month. This gives you four lessons per month. We do not have lessons on the fifth week of a five week month.
  • Do you offer free music lessons?
Kind of. Once or twice a year we will open up our studio to host free seasonal workshops where we teach specific techniques or songs. This gives potential students an opportunity to see how lessons happen and what kind of teaching style we use with our students. These workshops are completely free! Subscribe to our newsletter to know when these workshops are taking place.
  • Do you offer group lessons?
Yes! Our group lessons are offered at a cheaper rate than our private lessons. They start at $30/hour and are billed monthly just like our private lessons.
  • At what age can someone start lessons?
There is no minimum age requirement for a student to start lessons with us. However, we do determine lesson eligibility on a student by student basis. If the student is below the age of 7 we require a perquisite introductory meeting with the student before we decide whether or not they are ready for lessons.
  • Is piano harder than guitar?
In general piano is actually easier to learn than guitar. The reasoning is that everything is laid out in a more intuitive way with a piano than a guitar. The guitar has a steeper learning curve before you can start playing. With piano, you can start playing the first day you start learning.
